Warm with a scarf
Warm enough with a scarf even on the coldest days we've had so far. No complaints, no regrets. Looks smart on top of it too. Bought it in October and already wearing it most days.
Works with trainers too
Everyone assumes a coat like this is only for work but I've been wearing it over jeans and white trainers on weekends and it looks great that way. Just buttoned up, no belt, nothing else needed. Dresses the whole outfit up without trying. Got a few comments at brunch too.
Support told me honestly
Before ordering I wrote in asking if the maroon would clash with a rust coloured dress I wear to events. I half expected a copy and paste answer. Instead someone replied the same afternoon and said honestly it might look muddy next to rust but would sit well with navy, black or grey. Took their advice, wore it over black and it looked great.
Awards night coat
Needed something for an awards dinner that would work over a long black dress and not look like a winter parka. This was it. The two rows of buttons gave a proper formal outline and I did not need a wrap or shawl all night. Husband said it was the first time my outfit looked planned around the coat instead of the other way.
Suited both occasions
Does what it says. Smart, close at the waist, below the knee, lined. Nothing fancy to report. Wore it to a funeral and a wedding in the same month and it suited both.
Proper classic shape
Two rows of buttons gives it that proper old fashioned shape without looking like a costume. Fits close at the waist and flares a bit below. Wore it to a church lunch and three women asked where it came from. The maroon is deeper than I expected, in a good way.
Richer in daylight
Looked nearly brown in my hallway and then I stepped outside and it turned this rich deep red. Photos really don't do it justice. Wore it to the market and a stranger asked me where I got it. Really pleased with how it looks in daylight.
Six weeks of daily wear
Six weeks of wearing it to the office every day now so I can say something useful. Nobody has asked if it's new or old, just where it's from. Doesn't crease sitting at a desk or on the train. The lining slides on and off easily over blouses. Colour looks serious under office lights and richer when I walk outside at lunch.
Sewn like a proper coat
I am a retired seamstress so I looked at this coat the way I would look at my own work. Sleeve buttons properly open, buttonholes are cut clean, the lining is set in without puckering and the hem is level all round. A bit of stiffness at the shoulder that will ease. For this level of finish I am impressed, honestly.
Deep useful pockets
The pockets are deep. My phone, keys and a pair of gloves all go in and the coat still hangs flat. Sounds boring but I've sent jackets back before because the pockets were fake or too shallow. Its the first thing I tell people about it.
Neat inside too
I turned it inside out before wearing, as you do, and the seams are neat with no loose threads. The lining is smooth and doesn't catch on my knitwear, hem sits even all the way round. Cheap coats show their faults in there first. This one doesn't.
Survived the suitcase
Took it on a weekend trip rolled loosely in a case and it came out with barely any creasing. Hung it overnight and it was fine. Smart enough for the dinner and warm enough for the walk back.
Glows outside
The maroon looks better outside than indoors. Under my kitchen light it's a bit dull but in daylight it glows properly. Lovely colour and it fits just right. Wore it twice already.
Felt like me again
Honestly I bought it for myself as a reward after a rough year and I did not expect to get so emotional about a coat. Put it on, looked in the mirror and felt like me again. The deep maroon in daylight is gorgeous and the fit through the waist is exactly what I wanted. Have worn it on every cold day since it came.
Slim fit, size up
Really good coat but be warned that the fit is slim. I'm usually a medium in everything and ordered medium, and it closes fine over a t-shirt but over my fisherman jumper there is no room at all. Would size up if you layer. On cold days I wear it with a scarf and thin merino and I'm warm enough. Length and colour are lovely, just snug.
Covers my legs properly
The length is what sold me. Falls past the knee so my legs stay covered while crossing the car park, no cold gap above my boots. Most coats stop at the thigh and I end up freezing. Fully lined too, slides over a jumper easily.
One loose button
A sleeve button was barely attached when I recieved it, sewed it back on myself in about five minutes with spare thread. Rest of the coat is spot on, deep maroon, good fit through the waist. Would just check yours when it arrives.
Cat hair shows up
Good coat, warm and smart. Only thing is it picks up pet hair and lint badly. Two cats at home so a lint roller lives beside the door now. Colour is deep and the fit is sharp. Just know the surface shows everything.
Sleeve buttons actually open
Bought for my wife but I'm the one who keeps checking the cuffs. The sleeve buttons really undo, which you almost never see anymore. Small thing, but it tells you somebody bothered. She rolls the sleeves back when she's driving and says it's the little detail she likes most.
Birthday gift went down well
Birthday gift for my best friend, she's already worn it twice and sent me a photo each time. Arrived a couple of days before the party in good shape. She says the length is perfect.
