Back to work outfit
Went back to work after eleven years home with the kids and needed something that made me feel like I belonged in a room again. Ordered this on a whim. It is the first thing in my closet that is not black or grey and I ended up staring at myself in the mirror for a while. My husband just said wow. Happy with it, which rarely happens with clothes for me. It feels like a new start.
Tailored, not roomy
Fine over a shirt but snug over chunky knitwear, so Im mostly wearing it with thin tops. Red is lovely and it looks sharp. Just know it has a tailored fit, not a roomy one.
Snug at the bust
Between sizes so I went up, and it still fits snug across the bust when buttoned. Fine open, tight closed. Shoulders and waist are good. If you are fuller chested size up again or plan to wear it open. Colour and quality are great though.
Stays smooth when seated
Sat through a full day conference and the back stayed smooth, no crumpled lines across the shoulder blades like my last blazer. Takes a seat well. Hip length is just right so it doesn't bunch when I sit. Warm room, still comfortable.
Love the cuff buttons
The little buttons at the cuffs are what got me. They look working even if you never undo them and catch the light when I reach for my coffee. Small thing, but it makes the blazer look finished. Real weight to it too, nothing thin.
Breathes better than expected
I run hot in offices and assumed a wool blend would be a sweat trap. The lining breathes better than I thought, I kept it on through a three hour meeting without feeling cooked. Still plenty warm walking to the car. Proper deep red too.
Offer came by Friday
Wore this to an interview on Tuesday and had the offer by Friday. Can't prove it was the blazer, but I felt put together the second I walked in. The red is deep and rich, more cherry than shouty, and the shoulders sat nicely the whole hour.
Trousers or skirt both work
Works with black trousers for the office and a plain pencil skirt for evenings out. Two completely different looks from one blazer, which is why I bought it. The hip length suits both. Buttons close easily and the lining slides on.
Runs a touch big
I went with my normal size and it runs just slightly big through the body, nothing a belt under it couldnt sort out. Otherwise its gorgeous. Peak lapels are sharp and the cherry red looks so rich in daylight. Fabric has real heft, lined all the way through. Wore it to a dinner with friends and a couple of them wanted the link.
Rolled the dice, won
Took a chance on the red and so glad. Peak lapels sharp, fit through the waist great, got compliments at the school meeting. Even my principal said something about it.
Weekend jeans staple
Jeans, white tee, this blazer, done. Weekend errands have never looked so intentional. My daughter says I look like I have my life together which is a stretch but ill take it. Sits right on the hip and doesnt ride up when I lift my arms.
Exactly what I wanted
Deep cherry red, hip length, doesn't look like a costume. That's all I wanted. Wore it to church and then out to lunch and felt right in both. Warm without being a burden to carry around.
Not dull at all
Teach middle school and wanted something professional without being beige. This does it. Kids noticed the colour straight away and one asked if I was going somewhere important. Heavy enough to feel like a proper jacket and it survives chalk dust and getting leaned on.
Still looks new
Wearing it about once a week since early fall and it still looks brand new. No pilling on the cuffs, no shine on the elbows, buttons still tight. Brushed it once. Fully lined and heavy so it keeps its form when hung up.
worn four times already
ok so i bought this for a wedding where i was just a guest and have worn it like four times since. jeans, dresses, work. the red is so good in person. its thick not flimsy like the ones at the mall. little cuff buttons are cute. you cant really tell its lined until you feel it, which is nice honestly.
Finally found one
Looked for months for a bright blazer that was not paper thin. Everything cheap was shiny or see through. This one has real heft, you can feel the wool blend, and the red is saturated without being cartoonish. Fits my shoulders and closes without pulling. Finally, something that feels grown up.
My confidence jacket
When I have a day where I need to feel braver, this is what goes on. Sounds silly for a blazer but the structure and the colour do something. Had a hard conversation with my boss in it and held my ground. Its my armor now.
Cool lining, warm wool
Fully lined and the lining feels cool, not clammy. Wore it in a heated office all day and was fine. Waist shaping is flattering and the colour is deep and rich in person.
Compliments before hello
Got a compliment from a stranger in the elevator before I had said a word. Then another at the coffee place. Its the colour mostly, but the cut is why it looks polished and not like a costume. My coworkers have started asking if I have an interview. I do not, I just like it.
Cleanly made, shows lint
I write about clothes for a trade newsletter so blazers rarely impress me. This one has a clean peak lapel, shaping seams that land where a waist actually is, and a lining that doesn't twist. The cuff buttons are a nice touch. Cherry red, not postbox. Only criticism is that it shows lint, so keep a roller nearby, and the pressing instructions are easy.
