No reason to change

Two seasons of wear and it has given me nothing to complain about beyond a small irritation with a seatbelt. It is warm, it is properly made, the colour has held and it still looks like a coat somebody chose rather than settled for. If it wore out tomorrow I would order an identical one without looking anywhere else.
Neat on the inside

Turned it inside out before I wore it, which I always do. The lining is sewn in at the hem rather than tacked on, the seams are bound and there are no loose threads anywhere. That is the first place a cheap coat gives itself away and this one does not. For the money I did not expect that level of care inside it.
Cleaned with no shrinkage

Took it in at the end of the season on the label's advice and it came back with no shrinkage, the toggles intact and the shade completely unchanged. On a strong colour that was the thing I was most nervous about and there was nothing at all to worry about. It went straight into a cover for the summer.
Colour is deeper in person

The photographs push it towards orange and it is not. In the hand it is a proper rust with brown underneath it, much easier to wear than the listing suggests.

Wind gets between the toggles

Good coat and I have had plenty of wear out of it. There is no button placket behind the toggles, so with the coat done up there are still gaps between each one and on a raw day you feel the wind through them. A scarf tucked down the front sorts it. Worth knowing before you order.
Hood is genuinely roomy

It comes forward far enough to cover the sides of your face rather than sitting on the back of your head as decoration. Up in a shower it stays put instead of blowing off, and down it does not pull at the collar. I have used it a good deal more than I expected to when I ordered the thing.
Cloth has weight

You can feel it the moment you take it out of the box. It is dense without being a blanket and it hangs from the shoulder rather than collapsing in on itself. That weight is what makes a duffle look like a duffle rather than a dressing gown with toggles on it. It is the single thing I would tell anyone to check before buying one of these.
Better than the price suggests

I looked at duffles at nearly double this and could not identify where the extra money would have gone. The cloth has body, the hood is properly lined and the toggle loops are stitched on solidly rather than glued. If there is a difference between this and the dearer ones I have not managed to find it yet.
Handles a shower

Caught out walking back from the station with no umbrella and it beaded up rather than soaking straight through. Hung it in the hall overnight and by the morning it was completely dry with no marking and no smell left behind at all. I would not call it waterproof but it copes a great deal better than I expected wool to.
Toggle bars catch a seatbelt

Really pleased with it overall. The toggle bars sit proud of the front, so a seatbelt runs across them and catches on the way down every time I get in the car. It is a two second fix and it happens every journey. Nothing has come loose because of it, it is just an irritation.
Goes with more than expected

I was braced for a strong colour to be difficult and it has been the opposite. Cream, grey, olive, denim and black all work with it, and the only thing I have not made sit right is navy. Given that half my wardrobe is dark it has turned out to be far more useful than the safe choice would have been.
Flap pockets and one inside

The two front pockets have proper flaps so nothing gets wet in a shower, and there is an interior one as well, which not every duffle bothers with. Phone on the inside, gloves and keys in the front, and nothing shows through the coat or rattles about when you walk. That combination is the reason I chose this one over two others I had been looking at.
Room for a thick knit

Regular fit and it means it. A proper cable knit goes underneath and the toggles still fasten with nothing straining across the chest, which was the specific thing I bought it for. The sleeves are cut wide enough that a knit sleeve does not bunch up at the elbow either, which is where most of them fall down.
Back out for winter two

Bought it last autumn, wore it hard through the season, put it away in a cover and it has just come back out looking much as it went in. No pilling where a bag strap sits, no fraying at the toggle loops and the hood still holds its shape. The only change is that the wool has softened a little, which I count as an improvement.
Hood arrived creased

Very good coat, no regrets about buying it. The hood comes folded flat in the box and it holds that crease across the top, so out of the packaging it looks a bit sorry for itself. Twenty minutes over a steamy bath sorted it completely. Just do not order it for the same day you need it.
Wears to the market
