I expected it to be a light jacket for looks and it is genuinely warm. The wool has body to it and the ribbing at the collar, cuffs and hem seals the openings, so nothing gets in. It has definately replaced a padded gilet that I thought was doing the job. Getting that much warmth out of something this light was the surprise.

Snaps pop if you lean

Very good jacket and the make is solid. Snap buttons hold fine standing and walking, but lean forward hard over a table or a bike and the bottom two can pop open. They snap straight back. It is how snaps work rather than a fault, but a zip would not do it. It has never come undone at a moment when it mattered, for what that is worth.
Warm enough without a coat

The ribbed cuff pulls in at the wrist so cold air does not run up the sleeve, which every plain cuffed jacket I own fails at completely. It also means you can push the sleeves up and they stay exactly where you put them rather than sliding back down again every thirty seconds, which is a small thing I notice constantly.
White ribbing goes grubby

Good jacket and I would buy it again. The white in the stripe at the collar and cuffs picks up grubbiness faster than the charcoal does, so after a season the cuffs look a bit tired next to the body. A clean brought it back, but you will notice it before you notice anything else. It has not put me off it and I would still order the same one.
Sharper than it photographs

The photographs flatten the texture and make the ribbing look plastic. In the hand the wool has a proper weave to it and the stripe is woven rather than printed on. It is a much better looking thing than the listing manages to show.
Ribbed collar sits up

The collar has enough structure in the rib that it stands rather than folding flat, so it covers the back of the neck when the wind gets up. Most bombers at this money have a collar that gives up immediately and lies down flat. This one has not done that eiher on the windiest days.

This is the whole thing in wool, so it reads as a jacket rather than a costume, and I can wear it at thirty eight without anyone raising an eyebrow at me. Nowhere inside for a wallet

Solid jacket. There are two side pockets and nothing on the inside at all, so a wallet lives in a side pocket and bangs against your leg when you walk. One inside pocket would have made it perfect rather than merely very good indeed.

Measured the chest and ordered accordingly and it came out right. Close through the body without being tight and the ribbed hem sits at the top of the hip rather than halfway up my back. Buying something with ribbing at both ends without trying it on felt like a gamble and it came off.

From a distance it reads as a plain charcoal jacket and only up close do you see the striping at the collar and cuffs. That is the balance I wanted.
