Two layers of wool across the chest and nothing comes through it. I had assumed a lighter colour would somehow feel less warm, which makes no sense, and it is definately as warm as the black one it replaced.
Lining shadows through

Really lovely coat and beautifully cut. The lining is a good deal darker than the cloth, and in bright daylight you can just see the seam lines shadowing through at the shoulders. Indoors it is invisible. It only bothers me because I noticed it once and now cannot stop seeing it. Nobody else has ever mentioned it, for what that is worth.
Warmer shade than expected

It is a proper camel with some depth to it, not the flat oatmeal I was braced for from the photographs. In daylight it reads almost golden. Against a black jumper it looks properly rich rather than washed out, which was my worry.
Remembered a magazine picture

There were a lot of pictures at a christening and camel comes out far better than a dark coat, which just becomes a block. You can see the shape of it and the two rows of buttons in the shots. Buttons disappear against it

Very good coat and the make is excellent. The buttons are the same tone as the cloth, so on a double breasted front the two rows do not read at all in photographs and the whole front goes flat. In person you can see them fine. A darker button would have given it more shape. In every other respect it is a very good coat.
Room for a knit

Regular through the body with enough room for a thick knit underneath, and the buttons still close comfortably with one on. If you want it close to the body take your usual size and expect to wear it over a shirt rather than a jumper.

If it wore out tomorrow I would buy the same one rather than looking at anything else, which is not a thing I have ever said about a coat. It has done everything I wanted and it has made me stop buying black ones, which is a saving in itself. Camel is now more or less the only colour I look at.
Cleaner said it was fine

Beautiful coat and I do not regret it. A pale shade shows everything, and I mean everything. A splash of coffee on the cuff was visible from across a room. It sponges off easily enough but you will be doing it more often than with a dark coat.
Length is right for me
