Pattern hides marks

Practical benefit nobody mentions. A grey and black weave does not show the small marks and dust that a plain dark jacket does, so it goes far longer between cleans. With two young children that matters more than it probably should to anyone else.

This is cut like a mans jacket and that is exactly why I bought it. The straight body, the double breasted front, the herringbone. Worn over a polo neck and jeans it looks deliberate rather than like I have raided somebody else's wardrobe. Nothing else I own has that quality. It is the most complimented thing I have. Needs a belt

Straight cut with no shaping through the waist, which is the point of the design, but if you want a shape you can put a belt over the top and it takes one beautifully. I am suprised how well that works with a wide leather one.
Sleeves came long

Beautiful thing, but the relaxed cut means the sleeves are long as well as the body being roomy. Mine came almost to the knuckle and needed an inch off. Cheap to do and worth it, but budget for the trip if your arms are short. The body length was right, so it was only the arms that needed doing, which was cheap enough.
Buttons are good

Heavy buttons, properly shanked so they stand off the cloth, and the two rows line up exactly when you fasten it. On a double breasted front that alignment is the giveaway between something considered and something thrown together in a hurry eiher way.
Not a fitted blazer

Worth saying plainly so nobody is disappointed. This is relaxed and straight, not nipped in at the waist. If you want a sharp tailored blazer this is the wrong one. If you want something you can live in, it is the right one.
Would size down

The jacket is excellent and I am keeping it. If I ordered again I would take the size below, because relaxed here really does mean relaxed and I have more room than I need across the back. Read the fit description properly, unlike me. It still gets worn four days a week exactly as it came, so this is a note rather than a warning.
Pattern is the point

Clashes with prints

Genuinely lovely jacket, this is not a criticism of the quality. A herringbone is a pattern, so anything else patterned underneath is a fight. I have learned to wear it over plain things and then it is perfect. Over a plain roll neck or a shirt it is completely faultless. I have just had to think about what goes under it.
