Settled on simple shoes
Didn't expect choosing shoes to be the hardest part. Once I settled on my plain lace-ups, everything worked. Wore it to dinner and felt suitably dressed without being self-conscious.
Considering a small adjustment
I prefer a slightly closer trouser fit, so may have the legs adjusted. Nothing uncomfortable about them as they are. It’s more about the outline I personally like.
Checked my natural stance
The front looks tidier when I stand naturally rather than pulling my shoulders back for the mirror. Took me a minute to stop posing and actually assess the fit.
Used my existing accessories
My usual dress belt worked without looking out of place. Small thing, but I didn’t want buying a suit to mean replacing half the accessories in my drawer too.
Back in the office
Returning to an office after years of remote work meant checking what still fitted and what didn’t. This was one of the replacements I chose. I’ve worn it on days with external meetings rather than every day, and that suits my needs. Still early to judge lasting wear, but so far I’m comfortable and pleased with how it sits.
Easy to settle into
Didn’t spend the evening fiddling with my clothes. Happy.
Two shirt combinations
I like that I can change the feel with a different shirt. White looks more formal on me; pale pink softens it a little. Both combinations have been useful.
Allowed time for fitting
Delivery gave me enough time to arrange a fitting before the event. I wouldn’t leave any suit purchase until the last minute, even if the measurements look right.
Awards dinner
Wore this for an awards dinner where I had to go on stage briefly. I was nervous about the speech, so I appreciated having the clothing part settled beforehand. Nothing pulled when I shook hands or reached for the microphone. My brother took a few pictures afterwards, and I liked how it looked in those too.
One alteration needed
Good overall. Trouser length needed attention on my frame.
Measured instead of guessing
Asked about sizing because my jacket and trouser proportions aren’t straightforward. The answer helped me understand what to measure. Much better than guessing from the size I wore years ago.
Overnight business trip
Took it in a garment bag for a short business trip. Hung it up as soon as I reached the hotel. Looked presentable the next morning without a last-minute scramble.
Son helped me choose
My son helped me choose this for a family wedding. I’m usually the person insisting that whatever is already in the wardrobe will do. Glad he persuaded me to try something different. We checked the fit together when it arrived, and I wore it with shoes I already owned. Felt comfortable joining the photographs rather than hanging back behind everyone.
Adjusted the sleeves
The sleeve length was slightly generous on me. Had it adjusted so a little shirt cuff showed. A small change, but it made the jacket look more proportional.
Skipped the extras
Tried a pocket square, decided against it, and preferred the result. There’s enough going on with the pattern for my taste. I’m happier keeping the extras to a minimum.
Passed Dad’s inspection
My dad approved. He’s annoyingly particular about suits.
Conference catch-up
Bought it ahead of a conference where I’d be meeting former colleagues. My old suit still technically fitted, but I didn’t feel good wearing it anymore. This gave me a more comfortable starting point. I wore a white shirt and an old tie I already liked, so the outfit still felt familiar rather than completely new.
Checked in different lighting
Checked it under the office lights and outside before choosing a shirt. The pattern reads differently depending on the light, but neither version felt too bold for me.
Comfortable through dinner
The trousers sat comfortably while I was seated through a lengthy dinner. I usually notice the waistband halfway through dessert. This time, I was more interested in the conversation.
Prioritized the shoulders
A little extra fabric around my waist, although the shoulders were where I wanted them. I’d rather start with comfortable shoulders and adjust the middle than squeeze into a smaller jacket.
