Good coat and I have no complaint about the make. The adjustable cuff has two button positions and neither of them is right over a chunky watch, so it is either loose at the wrist or it will not fasten at all. I wear the watch on the other arm now and it is a non issue, but it took me a fortnight of fiddling to arrive at that.

Turned it inside out before wearing it, which I always do. Bound seams, the lining stitched in at the hem rather than tacked on, no loose threads anywhere. That is the first place a cheap coat gives itself away and this one does not.
Same one next winter

Two seasons in and the only thing I would change is somewhere to keep the hood when it is off. It fits, it is warm, it goes over tailoring and over a jumper, and the front stays clean because the zip is hidden. If it wore out tomorrow I would order an identical one without looking at anything else on the site.
Zip is fiddly cold

Good coat and I wear it constantly. The zip sits behind the buttons, so you are feeding a concealed pull with cold fingers before you can do the buttons up. With gloves on it is close to impossible. Once it is done it is excellent, but the first thirty seconds outside are a fumble. It is the one thing I would change about it.
Notch lapel does the work

With the hood off you would never guess it was a hooded coat. The lapel rolls properly against the chest and the front is completely clean because the zip is hidden, so it reads as tailoring rather than outerwear with a hood bolted on. That is the bit most convertible coats get badly wrong.
Second winter, no wear

Bought last autumn and it has just come out again. No thinning at the elbows, no shine at the cuffs, the hood zip still runs cleanly and every button is where it should be. The wool has softened slightly, which I count as an improvement rather than wear, and I would definately expect several more seasons from it before anything needs looking at.
Lapel flattens with the hood

Very good coat and no complaint about how it is made. With the hood attached, the hood collar sits over the lapel and pushes it flat, so you lose the shape at the front that is the best thing about it. Hood off it is superb. It is a genuine trade rather than a fault. I take the hood off for anything that matters and it is faultless.

A zip pocket on the chest, two on the sides under the flaps, and two more inside. Phone, wallet, gloves, keys and a ticket all have somewhere to live and nothing shows through the front of the coat when it is loaded up.

Really pleased with the coat. Once the hood is off there is nowhere on the coat to stow it, so it lives in a drawer and I have twice been caught in rain having left it at home. A small pouch or an internal pocket for it would have solved that entirely.
Chest zip pocket earns it

The zipped pocket on the chest is the one I use most. A phone goes in it and stays there whatever you are doing, which is not true of an open pocket eiher. On a coat you wear on a bike or a crowded train that matters more than the other four.

Warm without weight

It is dense wool rather than thick wool, so it blocks a wind properly and still sits close to the body. I have been out in it well below freezing over a jumper and been fine, and I have never once felt like I was carrying it around on my shoulders by the end of a long day. Given it detaches I had assumed it would be an afterthought, and it is the opposite. It has been useful rather than decoration, which is not what I expected from something that zips off.
Mid length is right
