Structure holds up

There is proper construction in the shoulders and the chest rather than just cloth and lining. It holds a shape when it is hanging up and it holds the same shape at the end of the day. My last coat went soft after two months and started to look like a dressing gown by February. This one still looks like a coat.
Lapel sits flat

Buttons are heavy

Fits over a blazer

Regular fit with enough room across the back for a work jacket underneath, which was my main worry ordering online. Nothing pulls at the shoulder seam when I reach forward and the sleeves are cut wide enough that a blazer cuff is not squashed.
Cheaper than the brand ones

I looked at three well known brands doing essentially this coat at two and three times the money and I could not identify what the extra was buying. The wool here has body, the lining is neat, the buttons are heavy and the seams are finished properly inside. If there is a difference I have not found it in six months of wear.
Only one inside pocket

Very good coat and it is beautifully made. There is a single interior pocket and it is on the left, so if you are left handed like me you are reaching across yourself every time. Two would have been better. The outer pockets are excellent.
Bought for commuting

Standing on a platform twice a day for twenty minutes is what I bought it for and it has more than earned its money. Double breasted means two layers of wool across the chest and no wind gets through the front at all. The lapels turn up and cover the neck if it is really bad. Best commuting decision I have made.
Shoulders sit right

The seam sits exactly on the point of the shoulder rather than hanging off it, which is the single thing that makes a coat look bought rather than borrowed. Nothing else about a coat matters if that part is wrong. This is the first coat I have bought online that got it right.
Nothing to alter

Dry cleaned once

Took it in at the end of the season on the label's advice and recieved it back with no shrinkage and no change in the shade. The lining had not puckered and the lapel still rolls the same way. Forty minutes of my time and it looks new.
Flaps flip up

Lovely coat, no regrets at all. The little flaps over the slant pockets are decorative and they flip upward when you take your hands out, so I am forever smoothing them down. Nobody else would notice but I do, every single time.
Not too long

I am five foot two and most coats swallow me. This stops at the top of the thigh so my legs are not cut off at the ankle by a hem. Proportions matter more than length when you are short like me.
No vent at the back

Really pleased with the coat, it fits and it looks the part. There is no vent at the back though, so when you sit down for any length of time it pulls across and creases. On a train journey I end up unbuttoning it. On a peacoat that is fairly normal but I noticed. It falls straight again as soon as you stand up.
Room for a jumper

Opens low at the chest

Good coat. There are only four buttons and the top pair sit fairly low, so there is more chest open to the wind than I expected. A scarf covers it easily enough.
