Different from faux leather
One thing I wasn't prepared for was how different real lambskin feels compared with the stiff faux leather jacket I had years ago. This one moves more naturally as I walk, and the lining feels smooth.
No loud graphics
What I wanted was a black jacket without bright stripes or patches. This has just enough detail around the shoulders and the collar to feel interesting without making the whole outfit busy.
For everyday wear
My brother owns a heavy motorcycle jacket, and this is a completely different feel. I wanted the cafe racer look for everyday clothes, not protective riding equipment. The lambskin is softer, the polyester lining makes it easy to wear over a shirt, and the inside phone pocket keeps things from rattling around in my pants when I head out.
Two opinions on the zipper
My wife said this looked better unzipped, but I prefer it fully closed. Either way, the shoulders hold their shape. I've worn it with a henley and with a light knit; both worked.
Better than my denim jacket
I reached for this on a windy afternoon instead of my usual denim jacket. The soft lining was a nice surprise, especially against a thin cotton shirt when the breeze picked up outside.
Glad I replaced the old one
I finally replaced an older leather jacket that had started feeling stiff and boxy. This one has a nicer drape on my frame, with enough room for a thin sweater. I like using the outside zip pockets for gloves and leaving the inside pockets for smaller things. It's become my choice for weekend walks around the neighborhood.
Worked over my hoodie
I wore it over a washed gray hoodie with the hood outside the collar. Looked better than I expected, and the front zipper didn't catch the fabric even once.
Not a deep winter coat
It's lighter than the heavy leather coat I used to own, which is good for most evenings. I wouldn't choose it as my only layer in freezing weather, though. That's my one reservation.
Phone finally has a spot
I usually carry too much in my jeans pockets. Moving my phone to the inner mobile pocket made a difference, especially while sitting in the car. The lining also keeps the jacket comfortable over a polo.
The shoulder detail
I picked this jacket for its simple front and ended up liking the padded shoulders most. They add a little shape without making me look like I'm wearing football equipment.
Useful at outdoor movies
I took this to an outdoor movie night and appreciated having somewhere to put my wallet besides the back pocket of my jeans. The snap collar looked good left open, even after I put on a scarf.
Pocket angle takes practice
The side zip pockets are useful, although I need to angle my hand a bit to get my keys out. It's not a dealbreaker for me, just something I noticed while carrying a bag.
Good for concert nights
I had been looking for something to wear to small live shows that wasn't another black sweatshirt. This has the right amount of detail for that. The padded shoulders show up under stage lights, but nothing looks flashy in daylight. I can stand around without constantly pulling at the sleeves.
Collar sits a bit high
I like the leather and the way the jacket sits when zipped. The collar is slightly tall for my neck, so I usually leave the snap undone during long stretches indoors.
Just enough motorcycle influence
The stitching around the shoulders gives me a little of that old motorcycle-jacket look, without extra buckles everywhere. It's a fashion piece for me, mostly worn to meet friends or run around town. I like that balance.
Cuffs work with flannel
Wasn't sure about the zippered cuffs at first. After trying them with a flannel underneath, I understood why they're there. The sleeves settle neatly at my wrists.
Good with brown boots
I bought this after getting tired of jackets with huge lapels. The snap collar stays fairly close to my neck, and the black finish goes well with my old brown boots. I wasn't expecting that combination to work this well.
Watch and cuff don't mix
The overall fit suits me, and I like the clean black look more than I expected. My one complaint is the cuff zipper can brush against my watch when I bend my wrist. I mostly wear the jacket without a watch now, so it's manageable. Still, it's something worth considering if you wear one every day.
Handy for commuting
I keep my train pass in an inside pocket and my earbuds in the other. It's a small convenience, but I notice it every morning.
Nice with checked shirts
The black isn't distracting, so my checked shirts still show nicely underneath. I was worried the collar would cover too much of the neckline, but leaving the top snap open solved that immediately. No fuss.
