Reads costly at a distance

Something about a long dark coat with a clean front reads as costly and I have been asked twice which brand it is. Neither person came anywhere near the price. It is the cut doing it rather than any detail, because there are no details to speak of. The cut is really the whole product here.

Very good coat, no regrets about buying it. Buttoned right to the top the mandarin collar is snug against the throat and if you have not shaved you will feel it. One button undone and it sits perfectly, so it is a preference rather than a fault, but it caught me out at first. Everyone else I have shown it to has liked it immediately.

Nothing to hold onto

Beautiful coat. Because the front is so minimal there is no lapel to pull across yourself when it is blowing, so you end up holding the front closed by the button placket, which is not much to hold. Fastened up it is not an issue at all. Worn open on a windy day it flaps about. Fastening it is not exactly a hardship.

Held its shape all season

Hung on a wide hanger between wears and after a full winter the shoulders have not collapsed and the front still hangs straight. My previous overcoat was sagging badly across the back by January and it never recovered from it at all. This one looks much the same as the day it arrived, which for something worn daily is really the whole test of it.
Cuff flaps are decorative

No complaint about the make, it is very well put together. The flaps at the cuff have buttons on them but they are stitched down, so they do not open and they do not adjust. They look good and they do nothing. I would have preferred a working cuff at this money.
