Comfortable under my tote
I use the same tote every day and wanted a jacket that doesn't bunch under the strap. The overall cut doesn't overwhelm the skirt or high-rise pants underneath. Even with a dark outfit, the different fabric texture stands out.
Different from my older blazer
I had it hanging beside my older blazer and noticed how different the fabric looked. I can keep my keys in a pocket without taking a separate little bag.
Not too formal
My office is casual, so I don't want a blazer that looks too serious. The shoulders hold their shape better than my old soft cardigan ever did. I like that this shade doesn't fight with patterned scarves.
Phone pocket earns its keep
I kept my phone in the inner pocket while carrying coffee in both hands. I can wear it with a tank or a knit without making the front look busy.
Packed for a conference
I packed a small carry-on for a conference and needed one jacket for different outfits. The brushed texture looks nice in daylight without having a shiny finish. It looks good with pale denim and a simple bag.
A softer work option
Most of my work jackets are plain cotton, and I just wanted a different texture. The lapels settle flat after I hang it up at the end of the day. The inside lining doesn't cling to my top when I take it off. The actual fabric is nice against my hands when I reach into the pockets.
Works with a longer skirt
I paired this with a longer skirt and low boots, which isn't my usual combination. It looks natural with everyday clothes rather than asking for a whole dressy outfit.
Better with thinner layers
I wore it to meet my aunt for lunch and she asked about the material. Even my oldest pair of jeans looked different with it. My thickest sweater makes the fitted waist feel a bit close.
The front flap pockets
The flap pockets sit flatter than I expected when I'm moving around all afternoon. The faux suede feels softer than the stiff woven jackets I normally reach for.
Single button is enough
The single-button front is exactly what caught my eye in the product pictures. I really like the way the front looks with the button fastened and a scarf underneath. The black works well with the gray and navy pieces I already own. I hung it up after dinner and reached for it again the next morning.
Sleeves needed checking
There's something about a matte finish that makes a simple outfit look more interesting. My thickest sweater makes the fitted waist feel a bit close.
Good with light layers
I don't usually wear lapels, but the pointed shape looks really nice over a crewneck. I really like how the peak lapels frame a simple neckline without hiding the shirt underneath. I don't mind a little extra care to keep faux suede looking nice. I would have liked a tiny bit more room across the back.
Buttoned for the meeting
I wore it buttoned for a short presentation and opened it once I was back at my desk. The pocket flaps sit nicely against the body instead of sticking outward. Against darker jeans, the matte black still shows its texture.
Good with a plain tank
The shape looks good over my plain sleeveless tops without adding much bulk. The collar doesn't crowd my neck when I lean forward at my desk.
Better than a stiff jacket
My desk chair has a high back, so bulky jackets usually drive me crazy by lunchtime. It wears nicely over a fitted tee and doesn't need much adjusting. The color looks calm next to my brighter tops.
A little upkeep
I wore this with jeans to a Saturday matinee and felt comfortable the whole time. The shape is flattering without needing a belt around my waist. I need a thinner top underneath to feel fully comfortable.
Looks nice worn open
The lapels sit neatly even when I leave the button undone for most of the day. The hem falls neatly against my trousers instead of sticking out at the sides.
Office to dinner without changing
I had a parent meeting right before dinner and didn't have time to change outfits. I prefer one easy button rather than a row I never bother fastening. The black doesn't look overly formal with sneakers.
Between blazer and cardigan
I was looking for something between a cardigan and a traditional business blazer. It's a comfortable option for days when I might sit through several meetings. Black was the sensible choice for the clothes I wear most.
A shape I prefer
After buying too many oversized blazers, I wanted something that followed my waist better. The peak lapels make it look more like a blazer than an oversized shirt.
