Glad the hood comes off
I really like having the hood available without being permanently stuck with it. The drawstring comes in handy on breezy walks, keeping things snug, and the brown leather still looks sharp whenever you detach it. It gives you two totally different styles in one jacket, and the soft material broke in quickly without feeling stiff.
Mind the watch
The sleeve zippers are convenient, although one sits close to my watch when my arm bends. I wear the watch on my other wrist now. Otherwise, comfortable.
Packed just this jacket
I packed this for a few days away because I could change the look without bringing another outer layer. Hood on for the drive and a late walk, hood off for a birthday dinner. The lining didn't catch on my knit shirt, and I could loosen the cuff zippers when I rolled up my sleeves. Little things, but useful ones.
A welcome change from plain brown
My usual jacket is plain brown, so I wasn't sure about the uneven waxed finish. It actually looks more interesting with basic clothes. The zip front is straightforward, and I like having a collar that snaps.
Nice around the seams
What I notice most is the color near the seams. The lighter waxed areas give it a used look, without the jacket actually feeling old.
Think about layering
I ordered my normal size and it feels good over a T-shirt, but a thick sweatshirt makes the shoulders snug. I'll use thinner layers with it. I'd compare measurements if you want lots of room underneath.
Easy to adjust on trips
I wore this on a weekend train trip and ended up liking the waist adjustment more than the hood. A heavier shirt underneath needed a little extra room, while a plain tee looked better with the tabs tightened. The fabric hood was helpful on the platform, and the zipped pockets meant I wasn't checking for my wallet every ten minutes.
Soft but not shiny
The leather feels soft without looking flimsy. I especially like the slightly worn finish, because I don't have to worry about keeping it perfectly glossy every day.
Plenty of pocket options
Four outside zip pockets sounded excessive on paper. In practice, I put gloves in one, keys in another, and leave the chest ones mostly empty. It's surprisingly convenient when I don't feel like carrying a backpack.
Drawstrings take adjusting
The hood gives the jacket a relaxed look, but the drawstrings are longer than I prefer. I tuck the ends inside when I wear it open. The leather itself feels soft, and the brown finish is excellent.
Collar works with a scarf
The stand collar sits nicely when the hood is removed. I wore a narrow scarf underneath and didn't have to keep fixing the neckline every few minutes.
One less jacket to own
I have a work jacket and a weekend jacket, or at least I did before this arrived. Without the hood, it looks right over a button-down for an early client dinner. With the hood back on, it's what I reach for when picking up groceries. The pockets zip closed, which is reassuring when I'm carrying too many bags.
Looks right with my boots
I don't usually wear warm brown boots with dark outerwear, but this jacket ties those colors together nicely. The waxed areas pick up the boot color without looking like they're supposed to match exactly.
Chest pockets have limits
The chest zippers look good, but I don't find those pockets convenient for bulky items. They're better for receipts or something flat. The lower pockets get more use.
Sleeves behave themselves
The cuff zippers help when I'm wearing a sweater with longer sleeves. I open them slightly to get everything settled, then zip them back. No bunching around my wrists, and the jacket doesn't feel awkward when I'm sitting down.
Patio to dinner table
I went to an outdoor family dinner in this and kept the hood on while we sat on the patio. Once we moved inside, I took it off and wore the stand collar open. The dark brown looked great with my charcoal shirt, and the chest pockets were handy for parking tickets. I'm glad the hood isn't permanent.
Waist tabs actually help
Those little snap tabs at the waist are useful. I adjusted them after changing from a hoodie to a tee, and the back didn't look baggy.
No fighting with my flannel
The smooth lining matters more than I expected. Some leather jackets grab at flannel sleeves, especially when I'm rushing out. This one slides on without that little wrestling match, and I appreciate it during busy mornings.
A better place for my phone
I finally have a jacket pocket where my phone doesn't sit against my thigh. The extra inside space keeps it separate from loose change and my keys.
More variation in daylight
I like the distressed brown finish, though the waxed areas are more noticeable in direct sunlight than I pictured. It works with my old jeans, but someone wanting one completely even shade should look carefully at the photos.
